That's What He Said

One night for supper we were having salads and I always put hard boiled eggs on them.  Logan was watching me crack and peel the eggs-when he saw the pile of shells he said, "Look the eggs!  They're hatching!"  He said it so excitedly I couldn't help but stop and laugh!  I wonder if this had anything to do with why he didn't want egg on his salad...

CMA Awards

I'm a big fan of country music (Nashville anyone?) and love to watch the CMA awards-and so does Logan.  He likes to dance around to the music and this year he surprised me.  He grabbed one of the Guitar Hero guitars and went to town-how funny!

Cookies!

Logan loves to watch me cook and bake-especially if I'm going to be using the mixer.  I decided on one of my days off to make cookies and to let him help me.  He did really well-he likes to dump things into the mixer and he helped me with the cookie scoop.  Any chance he gets to sit up on the counter with my permission is a good time for him!

I love making these memories that I'll cherish forever.

My Favorite Things of October

I really cannot believe how quickly October was over-maybe it was because we were so busy or because it's my favorite month-but it definitely flew by!  Here are my favorite things from the month of October.

1.  Our trip to Roca Scary Farm.  Logan had so much fun and so did Jared and I.  We can't wait to go back next year!

2.  Halloween!  I love seeing all the kids dressed up in their costumes!  Logan loved going door to door saying trick or treat and then getting to eat his treats!

3.  Waking up to see this tree!  I love trees-it's why I could never live in the desert or a big city-you could probably call me a tree hugger.  This picture doesn't even do the color of this tree any justice-it was absolutely stunning and was the most vibrant red of any tree in the neighborhood.  I was sad when a couple days after I took this picture we had a couple of really windy days and all of the leaves blew off.  I can't wait to see it again next year.

4.  Seeing Logan enjoy Colorado as much as Jared and I do.  It's such a beautiful place!

5.  Getting to see Grandma and Grandpa Cargill.  Jared, Logan and I stayed the night there before we headed to Colorado.  It's always so great to see them.  Now Logan says, "I want to go see Grandpa Cargill."  So sweet!

The month of October came and went so fast-but we had a great time!  We hope all of you did too!

Happy Halloween!

I absolutely LOVE Halloween.  I don't know if it's just the time of year or if it's the weather-it's just so much fun.  Our neighborhood has TONS of kids so it's always a good time seeing all of the kids dressed in their costumes.  This year was Logan's first year going Trick-or-Treating and we actually had the chance to go twice.  Hickman has Trick-or-Treat on the trail the night before Halloween so we went to that too.  Logan was dressed as a dinosaur rider-which he loved!  On Halloween I went with Jared and Logan down the street for a little while and then went back home to hand out candy.  I had 120 kids in about 20 minutes and then shut my light off-it had been a long great day!

Logan at Trick-or-Treat on the trail.

Cookie Monster!  I had never used one of those pumpkin carving kits before-it's actually pretty easy and it turns out so good!

ROAR!!!!!!

Isn't this so cute?  I found this at the pumpkin patch for $15!  I had seen similar ones selling for $50 so I was ecstatic to find this!

Roca Scary Farm

Ever since Logan was born I've pestered Jared about going to the pumpkin patch so we could pick out a pumpkin.  For some reason whether it be our schedules or the weather we just never have.  Well this year I was adamant about it-we were going to the pumpkin patch.  Jared took off early from work on my day off and we all went to the pumpkin patch.  We had a blast!  I'm not secretly glad that we waited until Logan was a little bit older so that he could enjoy all of the activities they had.

Our cute little family.

Me and Logan inside the pumpkin house (from the above picture)

Aren't we cute?  They had this big Candy Land game set up-pretty cool!

Jared and Logan on the ground pillows-these things were so much fun!  They were bouncy like trampolines but they were attached to the ground and looked like giant pillows.

Me and Logan jumping.

Me and Logan on the giant slides!

I wondered if he's be brave enough to go down by himself-after the first time we went down he said "I want to do it by myself!"  Such a biggy boy!

Logan ascending the hill to go down the tube slide.

My boys!

Logan at the end of the tube slide-so much fun!  He and I have this thing when I'm making supper I tell him what kind of meat we're having-and if it's pork I'll say, "Piggy piggy" and he always busts up laughing.  For some reason when he heard me laughing it echoed in the slide so he all of a sudden said, "Piggy piggy" it was so funny I couldn't stop laughing.  Everytime he went down he'd say that-so cute!
Logan watching the singing chickens.

This was one of Logan's favorite things-the Corn Bus.  He loves school buses so I knew this would be right up his alley.  The back of the bus was filled with corn and had these digging contraptions so the kids could pick up the corn and move it.  This corn was deep in the middle-I was walking through there and sunk down to my shins-that's a lot of corn!

This had to be one of my favorite days ever-we had a blast and can't wait to do it again next year!

Yoga

September is usually the latest that I run.  It starts getting dark really early and there just isn't enough time for me to get everything done so that I can run.  Usually I don't do much of anything from October until March or April when it starts warming up but this year I wanted to try something new.  I started doing Yoga and it's really fun and can be extremely challenging.  I highly recommend it to anyone looking for something new or for anyone who wants to work on balance or flexibility.  I haven't been going to classes (I'd be embarrassed because I tend to fall on my head a lot) I've just been using some DVDs and the instructor that I really like is Rodney Yee-he explains things very well.

Colorado Trip

This was the first trip to Colorado for Logan and the first time that Jared and I have been to Colorado since 2008.  The weather was great up until the Friday before we left and then on Saturday when we were packing the car it was starting to snow.  We saw Elk, deer, prairie dogs and even a bob cat!  It was a great time had by all.

Jared trying to organize the back...5 adults, one child in a giant car seat, one 75 lb dog and all of our stuff in one car.  We put clowns to shame.

Devaney

Yeah, I did it and I'd do it again-he can be such a punk.

An Elk or Bucky as Logan would say.

That's What He Said

We've been keeping our house at 68 degrees, which is super cold to me (I know I'm a wuss).  One morning I was so cold I went and grabbed my long terry cloth robe and put it on.  When Logan saw me he asked, "Are you going to sing in the choir?"  I busted up laughing!  He's used to seeing Grandpa Jack and GG Scott sing in the choir at church in their long purple robes!  So cute!

Favorite Things of September...two months late!

Here are some of my favorite things from the month of September...two months ago ;)

1.  Proactiv-I started using this again-though I really really didn't want to.  It burns my face like you wouldn't believe-we're talking the fires of Mordor here (yeah-that was really nerdy), it bleaches everything it touches, and it doesn't smell the greatest.  It does work though and it's reasonably priced so it's not all bad.  The burning does stop at some point-but for that first month or so my face is bright red.

2.  Shutterfly books-especially FREE ones!  I had a coupon for a free shutterfly book and had recently found some pictures of our vacation to Sedona Arizona so I made a book-and all it cost me was the shipping-gotta love it!

3.  That brings me to the third thing I loved this month-finding those photos.  Our camera card was chock full of pictures so it was time to start a new one.  We decided to upload the whole card onto the computer and sift through the pictures to make sure that we had them all saved.  It turns out that we didn't.  There were over 100 pictures of our trip to Sedona that we didn't even have on the computer-jackpot!  That trip was the best vacation I've ever been on that holds some special memories for me so I was happy to find those.

4.  This month marks the end of the summer at work and the beginning of the busy season-lots of people having surgery at the end of the year because of deductibles that have been met.  I took full advantage of the slow days and either left early or took the whole day off-it was great spending the extra time at home with Logan.

5.  Logan's manners are on the list this month-he has been so sweet!  He always says please, thank you, and excuse me-he must have gotten it from daycare ;)  He'll even cough on purpose just so he can say excuse me!  So sweet!

6.  Last on the list but definitely not the least is that Logan started saying "I love you" without being told first.  Just out of the blue one day he was sitting on my lap and he said "I love you Mama."  It was one of the sweetest moments of my life-I definitely had tears on that one.  He continues to say it everyday at least once-that's my boy!

September was a great month and definitely a sweet one-we hope your month was just as sweet!
